The Steak the mud pie and the Harvester

Steak and good company

A Christmas shopping treat

A Christmas shopping stop again, this time the Harvester in Stanway Colchester.

I ordered the Steak medium, no sauce, but only because i am an English mustard lover. The onion rings, chips and water cress with my mother in laws extra portion was amazing.

The only real reason to knock half a point off, was the Tomato who’s skin was a little tough.

For afters Bailey’s Mississippi mud pie was equally amazing and the Bailey’s was certainly evident.

My fiancee had the Harvesters signature fish and chips and had no complaints to my knowledge. My mother in law had the same as myself and equally her only minor complaint was that of the tough skin on the Tomato.

The Harvester is a well situated restaurant on the outskirts of Colchester near the Tollgate shopping village. Very welcoming and although a busy pub you don’t feel overwhelmed or rushed.

Colchester has it bonuses

If you’re coming into COLCHESTER for any reason, especially with little ones, I would recommend the Harvester, or if you, like us, are Christmas shopping and want something more substantial than a McDonald’s then make the visit. Bribe the kids with the fact that they’ll get a picture to colour with the necessary crayons.

A good hearty menu which changes with the seasons and sets you up for whatever your doing drop back onto the A12 and go on up to Colchester United’s game or into town via the park and ride.

The waiting staff cannot do enough for you and are attentive without being overbearing, very friendly and a warm atmosphere awaits.

Then I forgot to mention, the endless salad but I would recommend if you’re going to use this option don’t have a starter unless you’ve a very big appetite but that’s what I recommend.
